Croatian, Italian coast guards hold joint exercise

The Croatian and Italian coast guards held a regular joint search and rescue exercise in the central Adriatic Sea on Tuesday called Sarex 16.

The exercise was held under a bilateral agreement on cooperation in search and rescue operations in the Adriatic.

Commander Zoran Medvidovic of the Croatian Coast Guard said the exercise has been held for three consecutive years.

Sarex 16, as was the case with the previous exercises, demonstrated a high level of cooperation as well as the communication and coordination ability of joint action of the Croatian and Italian naval and air forces.
