Croatian government decides to scrap or cut non-tax levies in total amount of HRK 247mn

The Croatian government, meeting on Wednesday before a two-week summer recess, adopted a decision listing non-tax levies that would be abolished or reduced this year and the next.

The estimated value of the non-tax levies is HRK 247.1 million, of which 155.46 million relates to direct cuts for enterprises and 91.6 million for households, Finance Minister Zdravko Maric said.

He added that out of the total of 24 non-tax levies listed, 13 would be abolished.

"The abolishment and reduction of non-tax levies is just a first step in achieving the goal set out in the National Reform Programme, and that is to reduce non-tax levies for enterprises and households by HRK 330 million," Maric said.

The government instructed the relevant ministries to make the necessary legislative amendments to ensure that subordinate legislation passed by ministers took effect no later than 1 September 2016 and the amended legislation was approved by government no later than 30 March 2017.
