Croatia could attract 500,000 pilgrims for the Feast of the Assumption

The tourism ministry said in a press release on Friday that more than 500,000 pilgrims could visit Marian shrines around the country on the Feast of the Assumption and Minister Anton Kliman believes that religious tourism has great potential for development.

"Religious tourism in Croatia is a special form of tourism that has great potential for development even though a significant portion of the population privately visits numerous sacral sites. Cultural and religious tourism by all means is a tourism product that has great potential for growth and can develop throughout the year. The Ministry of Tourism sees an opportunity in this form of tourism through the Croatia - 365 programme which promotes Croatia as a country with a rich cultural and sacral heritage that attracts tourists all-year-round," Minister Kliman said.
