Croatia, Albania cooperate in health, medicine

Croatian Health Minister Sinisa Varga and Albanian Health Minister Ilir Beqaj signed on Tuesday a plan of cooperation in health and medicine in the 2015-18 period which includes strengthening cooperation in primary health care, education in health and scientific research, online health, medical services in tourism, emergency medical services, transplant programmes and medical products and equipment.

Varga said Croatia wished to fully support Albania's efforts to enhance its health system. He said the Croatian Health Ministry recognised the importance of a coordinated approach and the strengthening of health policies in Southeast Europe.

Beqaj said Albania faced many challenges in health reform, and that he was confident that the exchange of knowledge with Croatian partners would benefit Albania's health system. Albania is making headway in providing comprehensive health care to its citizens and appreciates the exchange of experience with Croatian partners, he added.

An Albanian delegation visited the Agency for Medicines and Medical Products and the Zagreb Clinic during its two-day visit to the Croatian capital.
