Committee proposes parliament replace HRT director-general

With seven votes in favour and three abstentions, the parliamentary Committee on Information, Computerisation and the Media on Thursday proposed that the parliament relieve Goran Radman as director-general of the HRT public broadcasting service.

A debate is underway on a proposal to appoint HRT editor and reporter Sinisa Kovacic acting HRT director-general.

The procedure to dismiss Radman was initiated by the HRT Supervisory Committee, which cited as the reason disregard for conclusions on the need to keep separate accounting records of HRT's public and commercial revenues.

The committee is debating the proposal on Kovacic's appointment, put forward by Jasen Mesic of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
