Carnival Charity Ball held in Rijeka

A Carnival Charity Ball was held in the northern Adriatic city of Rijeka on Saturday evening to raise funds for equipment for the sensory park of the local Centre for Autism.

The event, held for the seventeenth year in a row as part of the Rijeka International Carnival Parade, brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps in Croatia, business people, local and regional government officials and other prominent public figures.

About 20 ambassadors and other embassy staff attended this year. President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic was also scheduled to attend, but had to cancel because of other pressing business. Those present were welcomed by Mayor Vojko Obersnel.

Nearly a million kuna (about 130,000 euros) has been raised at the previous balls for various charity purposes.
