Bridge says HDZ, SDP stop amendment of MP benefits' law

The Bridge party has posted on its Facebook that MPs of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) have stopped a bill of amendments to the law on MPs' benefits, and that Bridge, by requesting the amendments, "has fulfilled its pledge," but these claims have been met with numerous negative comments.

Bridge says that 48 HDZ and SDP lawmakers stopped the bill and that "there are apparently too many 'professional politicians' who, after the end of their term, evidently don't wish to share the fate of other citizens and, after losing their job, generally be without an income."

Bridge says that it will push for changing the law in the next parliament because now it is impossible and that it will "remind our colleagues every day about the bill and wait for each of the 48 to scrap their demand."

However, many citizens have responded to the post with negative comments, including calls for a new election.
