Bridge party wants veterans' minister replaced

The Bridge party has asked the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) to replace Minister of Veterans' Affairs Mijo Crnoja, sources close to this party said on Tuesday.

The information could not be immediately confirmed.

Media say that Crnoja gave Samobor as his place of residence, although he actually lives in Zagreb, speculating that he did so because, unlike Zagreb, Samobor has no municipal tax, and that he has been reported several times for using physical violence.

The Ministry of Veterans' Affairs strongly denied the accusations, announcing that charges would be brought against all the newspaper publishers and journalists involved in this "scandalous and disgraceful harangue."

"All this campaign is actually directed at breaking up the cooperation between Bridge and the Patriotic Coalitions and ultimately at topping the new government," the ministry said in a statement.
