Bridge party agrees to TIH observers monitoring negotiations with HDZ and SDP

The head of the anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International Croatia (TIH), Davorka Budimir, confirmed on Monday that the reformist Bridge party had agreed to TIH's proposal that its observers attend Bridge's negotiations with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on the formation of the new government.

TIH is now waiting for the written consent of the HDZ and the SDP before it joins the negotiations, she added.

"After the parties' negotiators rejected the proposal for the media to attend the negotiations, TIH has assessed that it is of particular importance for the democratisation of society and for all ongoing processes that independent observers be present at the negotiations," Budimir told Hina.

"We have submitted our request to the HDZ, the SDP and Bridge, and Bridge agrees that we attend the negotiations. As soon as we receive written permission from the HDZ and the SDP, we will join the negotiations," Budimir said.
