Bridge MP Miro Bulj is satisfied with the Conflict of Interest Commission ruling that Deputy Prime Minister and Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko was in a conflict of interest.
Had something like Bridge appeared 15 years ago, Croatia would be the wealthiest country in the European Union because Bridge has shown that it is protecting national interests, Bulj told reporters in parliament after the commission released its decision. Bulj added that he hoped that national interests would always come first for everyone.
Bulj did not directly says whether cooperation between HDZ and Bridge was possible after Karamarko steps down. "We have to see. Bridge has been asking that he step down from the government for some time, naturally we will see what will happen next," he said.
He confirmed that Bridge would insist that Tihomir Oreskovic remains at the helm of the government. "Naturally it is our interest that this government continues doing its job," he underscored.
Bulj claims that Bridge is "not even considering" the idea that Bridge leader Bozo Petrov and Oreskovic step down from the government. "We are not even discussing that. Petrov courageously said that despite not being at fault, in the interest of the nation, he was prepared to step down from the government. Petrov is someone who is protecting national interests and wishes well for Croatia," Bulj underscored.
With regard to the motion to impeach Oreskovic, Bulj said that Bridge was steadfast during all the attempts to bring down the government which is what Milanovic tried to do and now Karamarko is doing. Bridge's stance is clear, he said in reference to the reshuffling of parliamentary majority.
