Bridge member Lovrinovic says won't support government

Bridge party member of Parliament Ivan Lovrinovic said in the parliament on Friday evening that he would not support the government of Prime Minister-Designate Tihomir Oreskovic because Bridge had given up on the key elements of the economic platform which had earned it voters' trust.

Lovrinovic said that the agreement signed this evening between Bridge and the Patriotic Coalition revealed "a lack of competence, resolve and professionalism."

"I don't believe that things will be moving in the right direction and unfortunately, I cannot give you my vote of confidence because of the citizens to whom I made a promise. It's more important to me to save face and citizens' interests," Lovrinovic said during individual debates, noting that he would apologise to the government if its moves proved his statements wrong.

"The time has come to level with one another, there has been enough of toadying and empty speeches," he said.

Lovrinovic said that the platform based on which Bridge had launched its election campaign had been pruned beyond recognition, that it made no mention of a monetary reform and that only foreign bankers were speaking about Croatia's monetary reform.

"As the author of a significant part of Bridge's economic platform I feel deceived, as do all who have voted for Bridge," said Lovrinovic.
