Association backs minister's decision to dissolve non-profit media commission

The Croatian Association for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights on Monday supported the decision of Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic to dissolve the Non-Profit Media Commission, saying that the decision was entirely justified.

The association said in a press release that everyone who was familiar with the state administration system knew that it was entirely normal for every new culture minister to dissolve the current commission immediately and form a new one.

The commission serves as an advisory body to the minister and it is logical that it be comprised of people of confidence to minister Hasanbegovic, the association said. It also added that the old commission acted under a non-democratic ideological and political motto "Us or them" and that it should have been dissolved immediately, the press release said.
