Russian Ambassador to Croatia Anvar Azimov visited the Brodosplit shipyard in Split on Wednesday, announcing the possibility of the dock being hired for the building of ships which will renew the Russian commercial and civilian fleet, Brodosplit said in a press release.
Azimov said "Brodosplit is willing to participate in that big project," and that Russia saw Brodosplit as a partner which met all the necessary criteria.
Azimov held talks with Brodosplit Board chairman Tomislav Debeljak, who said the dock's relations with Russian companies were traditionally good, and recalled that representatives of Russia's biggest state company for the foreign trade in ships and ship equipment, Sudoexport, recently visited Brodosplit.
"Brodosplit's name is known in Russian shipbuilding circles because since 1965, the Split shipyard has delivered 56 ships for Russian clients, so we can say that the quality of Russian companies is reflected in the success of our ships," Debeljak said.
Azimov also held talks with Split Mayor Ivo Baldasar.
