Admin. Min announces austerity measures for officials' perks

Public Administration Minister Dubravka Jurlina Alibegovic on Wednesday announced austerity measures for transport allowances, use of official mobile phones and travel allowances for officials, which should save millions of kuna.

Amendments to conditions for the use of official vehicles, phones, airlines, credit cards, entertainment costs and the like will be submitted to the government soon, Minister Jurlina Alibegovic told reporters.

It is difficult to say how much will be saved exactly but based on expenditure to date and data for the past few years as well as an analysis of expenditure in 2015, the amount in question is about HRK 500 million, she said.

Under the proposed measures, ministers who were eligible for the use of an official chauffeur driven vehicle 24/7 would in the future be allowed the use of such transport from 6 am to 10 pm weekdays for official use and on weekends when required and for official use only.
