1pct fewer employed in Croatia in Jan

The total number of employed persons in Croatia in January fell month on month for the six consecutive month, by 1%, the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reported on Monday.

DZS figures show that at the end of January there was a total of 1,293,354 employed people which, when compared to December 2015 was 13,676 people fewer.

January saw a continuation in the monthly trend of the reduction of the total number of persons with jobs which began in August last year. The greatest reduction in the number of persons employed in that period was 1.3% which was recorded in October last year. In September, a fall of 1.1% was recorded.

Of the total number of employed persons, a majority were employed in legal entities -- 1,092,291 persons, which is 1% less than in December, namely the number of persons employed was reduced by 10,709.

On the year, the number of people with jobs in legal entities was down by 0.3%.
