The Croatian company Koncar Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc. (Koncar KET) has signed a EUR 14 million agreement to revitalise the Kamburu hydro power station in Kenya, the Zagreb-based company announced on Wednesday.
Koncar KET has been awarded this job by the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen).
Under the contract, Koncar will overhaul and revitalise the generators it installed at the Kamburu hydroelectric power plant 40 years ago.
The project is due to start in 2017.
The Kamburu power station has an installed capacity of 94.2 MW and was commissioned in 1974.
The main business activity of Koncar-KET is the design and construction of complex electric plants and installations for power generation, transmission and distribution, for transportation and industries, on a ''turn-key'' basis.
