Jadrolinija reports 29% increase in net profit

The Jadrolinija shipping company in 2015 transported more than 10 million passengers, for the first time in its 70-year-long history, and its financial results were also good, with net profits having gone up by more than 29% as a result of rationalisation and fleet upgrading, the Rijeka-based sea transport company said on Thursday.

Last year the company transported close to 10.9 million passengers and 2.7 million vehicles, increases of 8.8% and 6.3% from 2014 respectively.

The state-owned shipping company's net profit increased by 29.3% to HRK 8.3 million.

Operating profits in 2015 grew by as much as 272% to HRK 64.3 million. Total revenues grew 0.7% and expenses 0.4%.

The company said the results were primarily owing to rationalisation, fleet modernisation and schedule optimising.
