Infrastructure projects way to revive construction sector

Large infrastructure projects such as the Peljesac bridge in southern Croatia, the Danube-Sava canal, railway projects, irrigation and green construction can boost the recovery of the construction industry, it was said at a meeting on Wednesday between Minister of Construction and Physical Planning Lovre Kuscevic and the director of the Croatian Employers' Association (HUP), Davor Majetic.

HUP, a press statement notes, underscored the need to include associations in the early phases of decision-making, considering that this would improve the quality and implementation of regulations and reduce the need for frequent amendments.

Minister Kuscevic informed employers of the reforms he intends to implement during his term in office and these relate to organising geo-physical data, strengthening the construction sector and responding to the needs of investors.

Special focus was attached to large infrastructure projects including the Peljesac Bridge, Danube-Sava canal, large railway infrastructure projects, irrigation projects and green construction, etc. that can contribute to growth in the construction sector.

The meeting highlighted the need for ongoing social dialogue between the government, HUP and unions as a precondition for well prepared legislative proposals.
