The Croatian Investment and Competitiveness Agency (AIK), with a project of the Indian ACG Lukaps group, has won an award for the best investment project in Eastern Europe in 2015 at this week's investment conference in Dubai, AIK said on Tuesday.
It is the third year in a row that AIK has received an award at one of the world's largest investment conferences, Annual Investment Meeting, which is taking place in Dubai on April 11-13. In 2015 the award went to the Zagreb International Airport company and in 2014 to the Pliva pharmaceutical company.
ACG Lukaps has invested USD 36 million in the construction of a factory in Ludbreg, northern Croatia, for the production of capsules for the pharmaceutical industry. A member of the ACG Worldwide multinational company based in India, it has been present in Croatia since 2007, employing 224 people.
"With this award ACG Lukaps and AIK have continued a series of Croatian investment success stories that have received awards on international markets in strong competition with countries with which Croatia competes in attracting new investments, such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, Turkey and so on," AIK said in a press release.
The presentation of awards for the best foreign direct investments at the Annual Investment Meeting was first organised in 2013. Awards are given to national investment promotion agencies for their contribution to the economic development of their respective countries. Awards are presented in five categories for the geographical regions of Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe.
