Brodosplit building additional flood barriers for Venice

The Brodosplit shipyard will build another 22 steel barriers worth EUR 70 million to protect Venice from flooding, the company said on Friday.

Brodosplit was once again selected for the job at an international tender by the Italian architectural-construction consortium Venezia Nuova. A contract is expected to be signed in April.

Italian media reported that Brodosplit was confirmed as the best bidder by far and officially selected to build steel barriers for three passages. Each barrier weights 300 tonnes.
