The presidents of Slovenia and Kosovo, Borut Pahor and Hashim Thaci respectively, agreed in Ljubljana on Monday that it was necessary to resume dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and that reconciliation and stability were a guarantee of progress in the region.
Reconciliation is the only path towards peace, security and progress in the region, Pahor and Thaci told a news conference held after their meeting, which focused on the situation in the region and relations between Pristina and Belgrade.
Thaci arrived in Slovenia on Monday for a two-day visit which is also his first official visit abroad since stepping into office. He and Pahor agreed that Slovenia and Kosovo had excellent relations, without outstanding issues.
After the meeting, Pahor said dialogue was the best way to regulate all outstanding issues, underscoring that Ljubljana has strongly encouraged dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, even at times when others doubted such dialogue was possible.
The two presidents also talked about economic cooperation. Thaci will also hold talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar.
