Kosovo Const. Court upholds disputed agreement with Serbia

The Kosovo Constitutional Court has upheld an agreement giving greater autonomy to the Kosovo Serb minority, AFP reported.

Concluded in 2013 under the auspices of the European Union, the agreement envisages the establishment of an association of Kosovo Serb municipalities, which Serbia considers to be of crucial importance for the improvement of the Kosovo Serb community's rights.

The opposition in Kosovo has been blocking the parliament since mid-September in an attempt to have the agreement with Serbia cancelled.

Opposition parties fear the agreement could worsen ethnic divisions in the country and increase Serbia's influence in Kosovo.
