EP urges Bosnia to implement resolute reforms

The European Parliament on Thursday reiterated its commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European membership bid and called on local political and religious leaders to refrain from nationalistic and secessionist rhetoric.

The EP's legally non-binding resolution, sponsored by Romanian MEP Cristian Dan Preda of the EPP, welcomes the first positive report of the European Commission on Bosnia and Herzegovina released in November 2015.

MEPs express unequivocal support to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European perspective.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's authorities are urged to implement resolute reforms  in line with the Reforms Programme for the 2015-2018 period.

The document welcomes Bosnia's request which it submitted on 15 February 2016 for being granted status of EU candidate.
