Construction of new bridge on Corridor Vc may begin, says Bosnian official

The construction of a new bridge over the Sava river which is expected to connect Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as an integral part of the highway on Corridor Vc can begin because all necessary procedures have been completed and those in charge of the construction have been approved, Bosnian media cited the secretary of the Bosnian Transport and Communications Ministry, Igor Pejic, as saying.

Pejic told Sarajevo-based Dnevni Avaz daily that the Croatian commission for the control of public procurement on 17 June adopted a decision dismissing all complaints to the selection of companies for the construction of the said bridge.

"The decision is final and it cannot be appealed. This way we will finally, after seven year, be able to start the construction of this large project," Pejic said.

The bridge will be built by the Viadukt-Hering construction consortium which gave the best offer at the international bid, offering the price of EUR 26.9 million.

The 660 metres-long bridge will be built in the town of Sredanci in Croatia towards Odzak in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The construction is scheduled to last two years.
